Inspired by Coney Island: Visions of an American Dreamland, step right up and take a “ride” on a carousel animal and decorate your own! Listen to hand-cranked organs playing authentic Coney tunes, catch a short film in the theater, enjoy a magic show by Professor Phineas Feelgood’s World of Magic (Bob Yorburg) and a Balloonathon!
April 10th:Gallery Talk: - Coney Island Revealed:
Bob Yorburg is a professional carousel carver and band organ restorer whose work is highly influenced by the whimsical designs we see in 19th century amusement arts from Coney Island. He is also a professional magician who helps curate Coney Island History Day.
In conjunction with Coney Island: Visions of an American Dreamland, Yorburg will give a behind-the-scenes look at the “real” Coney Island, exploring why Freud, Thomas Edison and many others found this to be one of the most fascinating places on earth.

Surround yourself with the sights and sounds of Coney Island, depicted in Coney Island: Visions of an American Dreamland, as you meet magicians, fortune-tellers, glass-eaters and muscle men! Make your own banner with Coney Island’s own artist, Marie Roberts. Extend your visit at the Hartford Public Library to see more performers, and pick up a FREE children’s book! See and experience carved amusement devices from days gone by.
